How to set output numbers

Set the number of pieces by choosing Optimal, Median or Smallest, or by choosing Custom  and using the spinner to adjust the number of pieces.

The figures at the bottom of the interface give the approximate length and size of the resulting pieces. The actual size may vary depending on the availability of key frames. For the same reason, the number of pieces produced might sometimes be less than the specified target number.

Optimal gives as many pieces as possible while keeping size more or less constant.

Median accepts more variation in size, thus increasing the number of pieces. This is an intermediate setting between Optimal and Smallest.

Smallest makes the separate pieces as small as possible, regardless of variation in size between the different pieces. This gives the maximum number of pieces.

Custom allows you to set the number of pieces, but you cannot make more pieces than you would by using Smallest.
